In our latest series “Behind the Build,” we shine a light on China’s custom manufacturing landscape. The invisible engine behind components you encounter every day. Yet rarely seen credited on product labels. We sat down with Zhao Wanshuang, the GM of Suzhou Zeheng Precision Technology Co., Ltd. to see how they transform raw concepts into parts accurate down to the micron.

Founding Vision and Equipment Strategy

Established in 2012 in Suzhou, the company was from the outset focused to fill a gap in micron-level machining for medical devices and high-end instruments. Zeheng Precision made a deliberate choice: Accuracy over volume. The founders set a mission to meet evolving market needs, drive continuous technological innovations, create lasting value for stakeholders and deliver solid economic returns.

Throughout the past years, the Zeheng choosed machines that address its most pressing precision bottlenecks.

  • Japanese Tsugami Swiss-type Lathes
  • Sodick wire-EDM machines
  • Sumitomo Fully Automated Injection-molding Presses
  • 5-axis CNC Milling Centers
  • Hexagon Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)

Each piece of equipment directly supports the company’s goal of producing components that meet the strictest performance demands.

Building an R&D Powerhouse Early On

Shortly after building its precision-focused workshop, Zeheng formed a dedicated R&D unit. They brought together project managers, mechanical engineers, quality engineers and production engineers under one roof. This team tackles every customer challenge through four clear objectives:

  • Improving internal technical competitiveness.
  • Addressing increasingly customised demands from their customers.
  • Pioneering new methods and materials to push the industry forward.
  • Stay ahead of shifting market trends.

With an R&D team in place, the company is able to enforce ongoing process optimisation and quality control to deliver high-performance parts that satisfies the strictest overseas quality standards and lower unit cost/improving throughput. Zhao Wanshuang, the GM of Suzhou Zeheng Precision Technology Co., Ltd. said "Our R&D team allows us to rapidly respond to unique application requirements with tailored design and manufacturing solutions, so that buyers can stand out in their markets."

Today, through its continuous innovations. The company holds multiple patents. With its biggest achievements being their high-technology patents. "These patents embody our commitment to innovation, and ensure that our company remains at the forefront of precision manufacturing"., Zhao added.

Tackling Complex Challenges Without Blueprints

When asked about one of their most challenging export orders. Zhao Wanshuang that their most demanding assignments occured when a client asked for custom endoscope assemblies. They had no engineering drawings to guide production. To tackle the situation, the team employed a reverse-engineering method.

Tackling the World’s Toughest Markets

One of the company's milestones was when it decided to take a grip of the international markets in 2020. Zhao said "We decided to serve international customers because we wanted to broaden our market reach and diversify risk, learn the global best practices and pursue higher-margin opportunities overseas."

Zeheng has zeroed in on three of the world’s toughest markets: Germany, Japan and Italy. These are all countries where they see a high demand for non-standard medical metal parts such as endoscope shafts, biopsy forceps and flexible “snake bone” assemblies, all requiring micron-level accuracy.

Why Buyers Come Back to Zeheng

Global customers choose Zeheng not just for its micron-level machining. But for a comprehensive quality ecosystem.

  • They have a robust quality system that spans the entire workflow, from incoming material inspections to final acceptance testing.
  • Their pricing adapts to each order’s size, complexity and urgency.
  • They have decades of industry-experience and reliable after-sales support that gives buyers trust.
  • Their capabilities are strong with many state-of-the-art equipment and processes to create parts with tight tolerances.

After-Sales Commitment

For Zeheng, shipping a batch of parts is only the beginning. Each delivery carries a clear warranty on agreed tolerances. But the real work happens afterward. Engineers stay in close contact at all times. The company commits to meeting all agreed standards/responsibility if the product performs within the warranty period. They also provide buyers with technical support for any in-use questions and/or troubleshooting. Lastly, their after-sales loop has become a key driver of continuous; they consistently gather customer feedback to monitor their satisfaction levels and drive ongoing improvements.

The Key Question for Prospective Partners

We asked the Zeheng team what advice they’d give buyers shopping for custom parts. And their answer focused not on price or speed, but on operational practice. Before discussing costs or lead times, they recommend asking your supplier:

“How do you manage daily production planning, in-process inspections, technical support and cost transparency throughout a project?”

A supplier’s detailed response will reveal whether they have the systems and discipline to reproduce micron-accurate parts consistently and total cost of ownership. Or if they're simply gambling on quality and delivery.

What's Next? A Vision for 2030

Zhao shared Zeheng’s roadmap for the next five years. First up is a shift to data-driven workflows. That includes a fully intelligent, data-driven manufacturing in line with Industry 4.0 and a mature management system supported by a high-caliber engineering team. At the same time, Zeheng plans to broaden their global footprint. They are aiming to scale their operations into a mid-to-large-sized enterprise with annual sales reaching ¥100 million.

By maintaining its focus on precision, innovation, and customer-centric service. Zeheng Precision is well positioned to deliver intelligent growth through 2030.
