Product Introduction

Half moon clamping segment forged from carbon steel in a semicircular profile designed to grip, locate, or retain cylindrical workpieces, shafts, and tubular components during machining, assembly, and in-service operation. Also referred to as a split clamp, shaft collar half, or semicircular clamping block, the half moon clamping segment is a fundamental element in split-collar assemblies where two opposing halves are bolted together around a shaft or tube to create a rigid, concentric grip without requiring end access. The closed-die forging process produces a directional grain flow that follows the semicircular clamping profile, delivering superior fatigue resistance and impact toughness compared to flame-cut or machined-from-plate alternatives. Forging stock is typically AISI 1045, 4140, or 4340 carbon and alloy steel, selected based on required tensile strength, hardenability, and service environment. Post-forge operations include normalising or quench-and-temper heat treatment to achieve the target hardness range per your specification, followed by CNC machining of bore diameter, mating split faces, bolt hole patterns, and locating features. Mating faces are surface-ground to ensure full-contact clamping load distribution when bolted. Surface treatments including black oxide, zinc plating, and phosphate coating are available based on corrosion protection and friction requirements. Half moon clamping segments serve critical holding and positioning functions across heavy mechanical applications. Shaft retention assemblies in gearboxes, conveyors, and rolling mills use split-clamp half moon segments to lock bearing housings, sprockets, or couplings at a fixed axial position on a through-shaft without keyways. Fixture tooling for CNC lathes and grinding centres uses semicircular clamps in V-block and collet-style work-holding arrangements to secure round stock during turning, OD grinding, and centreless feed operations. Rotary clamping systems on indexing tables and rotary transfer machines use half moon segments as the clamping jaws in pneumatic or hydraulic split-collet chucks. Pipe and tube clamping in structural steelwork, offshore riser systems, and heavy plant pipework uses forged half moon segments as the load-bearing clamp halves in bolted pipe saddle assemblies. IATF 16949 and ISO 9001-certified facility with precision machining capabilities and post-forge finish machining. Secondary processes include anodizing, black oxide coating, and chemical plating. The production site serves automotive, medical equipment, and automation end markets.
