As a radial support component for rotating shaft systems, these semi-circular bearing shells are typically used in pairs to enclose cylindrical journals. They are commonly found in pump bearing housings, hydraulic cylinder guide sections, or sliding friction interfaces of heavy machinery. The inner arc surface bears the primary load and guides axial movement, while the outer flat surface is embedded into the equipment base via interference fit or bolted fastening, ensuring positioning stability and wear resistance under high-speed or heavy-load conditions.

The manufacturing process focuses on controlling the dimensional accuracy and surface finish of the inner arc to prevent localized stress concentration or abnormal wear when mating with the journal. For stainless steel and other metallic materials, strict control over the perpendicularity of the semi-circular ends and wall thickness uniformity is required to avoid runout after assembly. The inner surface usually undergoes fine grinding or polishing to reduce the friction coefficient, while edges are chamfered and deburred to prevent sharp edges from damaging mating parts or sealing rings.
