Milled Flat Locating Pin Shaft

Designed for circumferential locking and anti-rotation positioning of rotating components in automation equipment or precision tooling, this part is formed from solid bar stock using combined turning and milling processes. The top cylindrical section features a central blind hole, facilitating axial fastening with countersunk screws or connection to the drive end. The lower body includes a longitudinal through-slot (milled flat) on the side. This key asymmetric feature provides a wrenching surface to assist installation and tightening, and often serves as a keyway to prevent relative rotation between components.

Manufacturing strictly controls outer diameter tolerance, slot width, and parallelism of the two flat sides to ensure assembly gaps meet requirements. As the process involves multiple transitions between rotational turning and planar milling, the concentricity during secondary clamping and the symmetry of the slot relative to the central axis are core quality control points. This prevents eccentricity or uneven stress distribution after assembly. The surface presents a uniform metallic luster. Materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, or alloy steel are selected based on operating conditions, with optional black oxide, zinc plating, or passivation treatments to enhance wear and corrosion resistance.
