Circular cast housing cover die-cast in aluminium with concentric rib geometry that provides structural rigidity while minimising wall thickness and component weight. Also referred to as an end cover, bearing cap, or enclosure lid, the circular cast housing cover mates to a cylindrical or flanged housing body via a machined register fit and bolt circle pattern, providing environmental sealing, thermal management, or access closure for internal rotating or electrical components. Aluminium die-casting alloys commonly used for housing covers include ADC12 (A383), A380, and A356 — selected based on the balance of castability, mechanical strength, pressure tightness, and corrosion resistance required by the application. Wall thickness for die-cast covers typically ranges from 1.5 mm to 4.0 mm depending on span diameter and structural load. As-cast surface finish is generally Ra 3.2 to Ra 6.3 micrometres, with post-machining to Ra 1.6 micrometres or finer on sealing faces, register diameters, and mounting hole bores. Secondary operations include CNC machining of register fits and bolt holes, vibratory deburring, shot blasting, powder coating, anodising, and chromate conversion coating per MIL-DTL-5541 or RoHS-compliant alternatives.
